After a brainstorming planning session, Luitpold Animal Health and LePoidevin Marketing decided a research survey of equine veterinarians was needed. The survey would help evaluate an entirely new way of going to market for Luitpold. But, it needed to happen fast.
In order to preserve brand anonymity and achieve a blind study, the research was conducted under our proprietary Peabody name and positioned as a third-party research service making inquiries on behalf of an unnamed animal health company. In addition, no incentives were offered for participation, and veterinarians invited to participate were only told that their opinions and expertise were valuable to us. The 13-question survey was designed to be simple to understand and easy to use.
Within 24 hours, the survey was designed and several hundred survey invitations were distributed by email. Within 48 hours of the invitation we achieved a 6.2% response. More impressively, within 24 hours of receiving the responses, we produced an in-depth analysis of the data that gave Luitpold the directional information they needed – and fast.
Such a quick-results survey lends itself well to directional thinking, which is a great way to “take the temperature” of existing customers and prospects. From the responses received, Luitpold was able to gauge the general opinion of their current customers, discover potential challenges to their proposed plan and gain valuable insight into the equine veterinary market in just days. And, they did for far less expense than conventional research surveys.
