Unifying the Packaging Family
One Bemis Project
UNIFYING THE FAMILY
The Bemis Company is composed of twelve diverse, independent divisions, each with distinct capabilities and one or more main product lines. Bemis came to us looking for ideas to unify these twelve divisions and equip the sales force with materials that would enable them to cross-sell different division’s products.
Whenever organizations attempt to promote themselves and their collective capabilities, there are debates and differing viewpoints. Our job goes beyond simply capturing all of the information in one or more brochures. We needed to flush out the history, legacies, viewpoints and vested interests, getting everything out in the open. In the end, we sought not to just create a set of attractive brochures, but also build consensus and excitement about using them within the company.
The “One Bemis” collateral package includes a single carrier that holds up to twelve complementary brochures—one for each division. This enabled the sales force to customize their “collateral toolbox,” depending on the needs of each specific customer. We also organized all of the brochures onto one easy-to-navigate mini-CD, which helped them cut inventory costs and reduce bulky handouts at trade shows and sales events.
As a result, all Bemis divisions were unified under one standardized look. Our efforts resulted in one of the most significant branding steps Bemis had ever taken, and the sales team quickly realized benefits from their ability to conveniently present a broad portfolio of products.
