MERGING TWO LEGACIES OF QUALITY

Shortly after Bemis Company’s acquisition of Clysar, the shrink and stretch film division of DuPont, Bemis asked us to develop a solution for demonstrating the company’s new relationship, combined brand equity and established integrity of Clysar films. Clysar already had a well-known reputation in the shrink film industry, but it was important to communicate the continuation of quality and brand strength as it became associated with Bemis.

We addressed this challenge by developing three strategic marketing tactics. First, we designed an advertisement to promote Bemis Clysar as one unified corporate brand. By featuring a case study of Clysar’s application for ClosetMaid™ packaging, we were able to demonstrate an historical quality of Clysar films, while also presenting the brand alliance of the two companies.

We also needed to introduce Clysar’s newest product – ShrinkBox™ film. The product was loaded with new cost-savings features and some very unique applications – all of which would best be communicated in a sales brochure. Besides highlighting features and benefits, the brochure also shared the new and combined Bemis Clysar name.

Finally, the film properties needed to be demonstrated tangibly, and in preparation for a leading industry trade show, we developed a red truck toy giveaway, packaged in Bemis Clysar shrink film and minimal cardboard packing. The premium creatively demonstrated the strength of the film and product versatility, while showcasing how ShrinkBox film helps reduce the need for expensive cardboard inner packaging.

Both the ad and brochure were used for over two years, and are still providing significant results for Bemis Clysar. The truck premium was used at trade shows, effectively represented the product and announced the brand acquisition.
